Lucy the Elephant is an impressive six-story elephant that was made from wood in 1881. Since then, it has become one of the most popular tourist attractions. If you are in Ocean City, visit Margate City, which is only 6 miles by car.

Lucy the Elephant is the 12th tallest structure in the United States. A fun fact about the city’s prized elephant is that it was made using around one million wood pieces with 220 kegs of nails, 4 tons of iron bars and bolts, and 12,000 square feet of tin to cover its exterior. You can visit the elephant on your own or book a guided tour that will take you to a few other locations, including to Lucy.
